Teermanam (the conclusion) is an essential part of any kalpana swaram (improvised note play) section of a concert. It blends creativity and calculation of tala to create a satisfying pattern that “concludes” or culminates an explorative journey of swaras. Roopa Mahadevan will help demystify the calculations in Carnatic music, and teach you how to create and weave basic teermanams into your improvisation.
