Roopa and Sruti will work in consultation with community-based advocacy organization ASATA to create compositions that explore South Asian diasporic themes, inspired by historic events of the Bay Area, with a focus on marginalized and/or less amplified identities. To create these songs, Roopa and Sruti will use, as well as push boundaries of, the traditional Carnatic form in hopes that a "diasporic" repertoire emerges.
