ROOPA IN FLUX
Roopa In Flux is an ensemble of musical wanderers venturing beyond the established traditions that shaped them. Led by Roopa Mahadevan, piano, violin, and percussion band together for a sound grounded in classical and jazz forms from India and around the world, thirsting to express a contemporary moment. The musicians use unique repertoire, cross-genre arrangements, improvisational virtuosity, and soul to create joy, camaraderie, honesty, and emotional intensities. The ensemble has included world-renowned artists Guy Mintus, Anjna Swaminathan, Rohan Krishnamurthy, and Karim Ellaboudi.
NAVATMAN MUSIC COLLECTIVE (NMC)
Navatman Music Collective (NMC) is a one-of-a-kind choir that aims to bring out the depth and beauty of Carnatic (South Indian classical) music while imbuing it with a soul and energy that borrows from our members' contemporary and diverse influences. Our respect for the rich tradition is paired with an honest joy for the music we sing, and we aim to engage the discerning and uninitiated alike.

BROOKLYN RAGA MASSIVE (BRM)
Roopa performs regularly with the Brooklyn Raga Massive, a spirited, community-based platform for Indian classical and raga-inspired performers based on a model of collaboration (not competition). BRM hosts a featured artist, followed by a jam session, every Wednesday night in addition to performing as a freelance ensemble on other nights/in other venues. Roopa is also a regular performer with Womens' Raga Massive, an offshoot ensemble focused on supporting women inspired by Indian classical music.

Roopa is a sought after vocalist for dancers of Bharathanatyam, crossover, and experimental genres. A trained Bharathanatyam dancer herself and a lover of theater, Roopa enjoys exploring the power of music to support and enhance movement.
